Jeju students top CSAT 2 years in a row

Jeju students had outstanding results in the 2011 College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT). Of note, the highest ranked students got better scores than last year, when local students also achieved the best scores in the nation.

The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education announced that local students outdid other students and produced excellent results in three subjects of CSAT (Korean, Math A/B, English).

The number of students [ratio in brackets] who received l evel 1 [out of 9] in the three main subjects were 440 (6.13%) in Korean, 64 (5.28%) in Math A, 295 (5.25%) in Math B and 314 (4.53%) in English.
Nationally, 33,300 (4.98%) of students got level 1 results in Korean, 5,988 (4.13%) in Math A, 20,180 (4.19%) in Math B and 28,549 (4.34%) in English.

Also, 1,965 (27.38%) students in Jeju achieved level between 1 to 3 in Korean, 398 (32.84%) in Math A, 1,618 (28.77%) in Math B and 1,960 (28.25%) in English.

On a national scale, the number of students who got level 1 to 3 was 159,808 (23.91%) in Korean, 35,502 (24.46%) in Math A, 114,757 (23.84%) in Math B and 162,384 (24.69%) in English.

Therefore, Jeju’s total rate of students who are graded level 1 to 3 is 3.74% higher in Korean, 8.38% in Math A, 4.94% in Math B, 3.56% in English, compared to the national record.

7,176 Jeju students took the Korean exam, 1,212 / 5,623 took Math A/B, and 6,939 students took the English test this year. In total, 668,991 students nationwide took the 2011 CSAT.
